Goa All Set to Host 46th IFFI; Curtain Lifts Today


The stage is set for the 46th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) that unfolds today amidst genial surroundings and mesmerizing scenic beauty of the beach state of Goa. The 11-day cinematic extravaganza promises to dissolve boundaries of caste, creed, thought, religion as well as nations and puts humanity in the forefront through its storylines. Cinema being a collaborative art, films offers a combination of hundreds of trades and almost all art forms through their imagery, sound, characters and storytelling techniques. 

The IFFI-2015 offers a bouquet of Indian as well of World Cinema to enthrall film makers and film lovers with beautiful stories, impressive acting performances and new techniques in filmmaking. Of 384 films received from different regions of the country including 238 Feature and 146 Non-Feature films, the Indian Panorama section will screen 26 feature and 21 non-feature films during the festival. 

The IFFI 2015 awards spread across different categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor – Male, Best Actor – Female, Special Jury Award, Centenary Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Centenary Award- Indian Personality of the Year. 

The Festival package includes Homages to eminent filmmakers and actors who passed away, Festival Kaleidoscope, Master Stroke and Country Focus. The Kingdom of Spain is the focus country of IFFI 2015. 

The festival is organizing a Special Retrospective on the legendry actor Shashi Kapoor. 

IFFI 2015 in collaboration with the International Council for Film, Television and Audio visual Communication (ICFT), Paris and UNESCO will present the “ICFT- UNESCO Fellini Prize” to a film. 

For the first time, IFFI will be recognizing young talents from the world of cinema under its new segment - First Cut that will showcase some of the outstanding works of debutant directors of 2015. 

Focusing on skill building in filmmaking and enhancing talents, IFFI in association with the Oscar Academy will organize master classes with eminent Academy Members including Mark Mangini, Milt Shefter and Humphrey Dixon.
